Reading
This week, I finished The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. This novel really needs no introduction. I put this audiobook on hold at the library (through my Libby app, of course) months ago and it finally arrived onto my phone. It was a quick listen, and I was able to squeeze it in during work over the course of a couple of days. I already put the next book on the list, Prince Caspian on hold. Netflix is about to start filming an adaptation of the entire series, apparently. I remember watching a British TV movie version of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe back in elementary school or junior high. Wonder if the new version will be any good…
Next, I completed the next 3 volumes of Pluto (volumes 5, 6, and 7). The story is picking up, and I have one final volume left to read which is currently waiting for pickup at the library. There’s a good chance I’ll finish it tonight. I’m loving this series, which is a huge relief. I loved Monster by Urasawa, but did not like 20th Century Boys at all (and in fact gave up on it about 25% through the series). Pluto feels much more like Monster, which I’m glad about.
I’m still in the middle of The Gathering Storm by Robert Jordan and The Mercy of Gods by James SA Corey. I should finish Mercy by the end of the week, but The Gathering Storm will take a little longer. I’m about 20% of the way through.
Writing
I had a couple of days off last week, and despite those days being filled with errands and fun activities, I was able to get a couple of hours of writing done each day I was off. These were massively productive days, and it really goes to show just how easy it is to focus on writing when a stressful day job isn’t there to sap your energy and focus. I’ve contemplated taking days off randomly just to focus on my writing, and I think I’ll do that once my manuscript is in the home stretch.
